CHRISTIAN CENTER
and COMMUNITY FARM
Since the first fence post was pounded in 4 years ago, the community farm, a mission of our existing church, has hosted Bible studies, prayer meetings, ladies’ luncheons, youth retreats, vacation Bible camp for kids, farm tours, and community kitchen projects like canning and cheese-making.
The fruits of field and flock help to regularly support some 20 low income families like widows, single moms, disabled, and temporarily unemployed folks. We raise pigs as a sustainability crop to help generate income for what we do here, and recently launched a small carpentry workshop to teach a trade to those who need work.
On the near-future drawing board are nutrition/cooking classes, canning and food preservation programs, especially geared to help women and young people develop cottage businesses for their families.
Further down the road, God has placed a desire to establish “reintegration centers” for rehab graduates returning to the ‘real world,’ and for women escaping toxic relationships but without job and child-care resources.
Big God, big plans!
